Make fun and colorful duct tape bracelets with this easy DIY tutorial! Waterproof, stylish, and great for kids and teens.

Skills Required: Beginner. These braided bracelets are extremely easy to make, and once you get the hang out of how to do it, you’ll be making a ton of them!

duct tape bracelets

Duct tape isn’t just for home repairs – it’s an incredibly fun and versatile crafting material! These DIY duct tape bracelets prove just how creative you can get with a few rolls of colorful tape.

Unlike traditional friendship bracelets that require knotting or weaving, these are made with simple braiding techniques, making them perfect for beginners. Plus, they’re completely waterproof, so kids can wear them to the pool, beach, or sprinkler runs all summer long.

What makes this project extra cool? The endless customization! With the huge variety of patterns and colors available, you can mix and match designs to your heart’s content.

Want a neon-bright bracelet? Done. A sleek metallic look? Easy. A mix of fun patterns (which Duck Tape has)? Absolutely! They’re lightweight, flexible, and easy to slip/take on and off – no tricky clasps or knots.

hand holding bracelets made of duct tape

This is the ultimate boredom-busting activity for tweens and teens, but adults will love them too. Once you make one, you won’t want to stop! These duct tape bracelets are guaranteed to be a hit.

What Size to Cut Your Duck Tape

For these bracelets you’ll need to cut three initial strips of Duck Tape that you’re going to braid. My bracelets are 9 inches round, and they easily slip over my hands onto my wrist.

I’ve given you a general guideline below for how long the strips should be cut for the circumference of a bracelet.

My wrists are on the smaller side for an adult, so the 9 inch round are like bangles on me. The good news is that if you don’t estimate correctly, you can always trim them down!

  • 6 inches – 11 1/3 inch strips
  • 7 inches – 13 1/4 inch strips
  • 8 inches – 15 1/4 inch strips
  • 9 inches – 17 inch strips
  • 10 inches – 19 inch strips

Are you ready to learn how to make them? Keep reading!

Duck Tape Bracelets

Gather These Supplies

  • Duck Tape – you’ll use three separate colors for each bracelet
  • Craft knife or scissors
  • Craft mat
  • Clamp (optional)

Cut the First Piece of Tape

Start with a 17 inch piece of Duck Tape (or the correct length using the chart I gave you above). Place it down on a cutting mat and trim.

Place a piece of Duck Tape on a cutting mat

Fold Both Sides of Tape to Create Strips

Peel the Duck Tape off of the cutting mat and fold in one side toward the middle. Having a cutting mat can really help you estimate the middle of the Duck Tape.

Hand folding in both sides of the tape

Fold the other side so that both pieces meet in the middle. If they slightly overlap, that’s totally fine. Repeat with two other colors of tape.

Fold in another quarter of the Duck Tape

Clamp Tape to Table or Surface

Attach your Duck Tape to a table using a clamp, or you can even secure with another piece of tape. Yet another option – a clipboard! Just like a lot of kids use for friendship bracelets.

Clamp three pieces of Duck Tape to a table

Braid the Tape

Begin braiding the Duck Tape, just as you would do a regular braid. You’ll want to braid rather tightly.

Clamp holding braiding to the table

Cut Small Tape Strips and Finish Ends

Cut two 1/2 inch x 2 inch pieces of Duck Tape that are going to secure each end.

Cut two inch strips of Duck Tape

Place each of these pieces toward each end of the braid, and trim as shown.

Cut off the end of the braid

This is what the end of your braided bracelet will look like.

Taped end of the bracelet braid

Lay your bracelet out on the cutting mat. You’re going to cut more Duck Tape!

Finished Duck Tape braid

Cut Tape Piece to Close Ends

Cut a three inch piece of tape – you can layer it if you like so that your closures have a cool look! It’s really up to you!

Three inch layered pieces of tape

Tape and Wear

Secure your braided bracelets by bringing the two ends together and wrapping the three inch piece around to secure. Not only does this secure your bracelet, but it makes it really easy to take on and off.

Hand taping the ends of the bracelet together

You can see that we tried these in a few colors. What you don’t know is that behind the scenes, we made a ton more with my niece later that day!

I wore these braided bracelets for several weeks. They are just so fun! I haven’t found someone yet that struggles to make them, either. If you’re looking for easy – this is your project.

Make a DIY air dry clay ring holder! This easy craft is fun to paint and personalize—perfect for gifts or organizing your favorite jewelry.

Skills Required: Beginner. You should have a little bit of crafting experience for this project, but not much. You’ll be cutting out clay to shape a dish and then doing some (very simple) hand painting.

diy trinket dishes

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of nostalgic crafts from my childhood. I went to a Montessori preschool, and for whatever reason I remember a lot of the craft projects we did there . . . even more so than elementary school!

We worked with clay a lot, probably because it’s a tactile, sensory experience for kids. Clay also allows for boundless creativity – you can make just about anything. And we did.

One of the crafts I remember vividly due to its ease: small clay trinket dishes. We cut circles out of clay and decorated them to our heart’s desire with paint.

I’m ready to share that fun idea from my past with you – today. If you love cute little projects that are both stylish and simple, this air dry clay ring holder is a must-try!

DIY Clay Ring Holder

These DIY ring holders are perfect for keeping your favorite jewelry in one place, whether on a bedside table, vanity, or bathroom counter.

Want to make it even more special? Personalize it with initials, floral patterns, or abstract designs to match your style.

Handmade and heartfelt, these ring holders are ideal for birthdays, holidays, Mother’s Day, bridesmaid gifts, teachers, or even as a sweet surprise for a friend who loves jewelry.

Ingredients

  • Air dry clay or polymer clay
  • Parchment paper
  • Multisurface craft paint colors of your choice
  • Clear acrylic sealer Mod Podge – could be another brush on or spray as well

Instructions

  • Pull off a piece of clay and roll it around in your hands to warm it up. Using the rolling pin, roll and flatten it out. You will want to have at least a 1/4” thick piece.
  • Use your circle cookie cutter (or whatever shape you like) to cut the clay to a nice, clean, round shape.
  • Use a round object such as the bottom of a bowl to shape your clay for it to be rounded – meaning more dish-shaped, and not flat. Place parchment paper over the bowl and smooth down. You can wet your finger and rub it around the clay to smooth also.
    Shape Clay into Bowl
  • If you are using air-dry clay, let it dry for a few hours to a few days, until it has hardened.
  • Use a pencil to sketch the design of your choice onto the clay.
    Draw your Design
  • Once hardened, paint your details – I chose flowers, but you can decorate with cute animal figures, leaves, stripes, dots – the possibilities are endless!
    Paint Your Design
  • Seal your piece with an appropriate sealer – Mod Podge works great for air dry clay, and . Let it dry, and you’re done!

Notes

Step 3: If you use polymer clay, you’ll need to make sure that the bowl you’re using as a mold is oven safe. You can also use the inside of the bowl for your shaping.
Step 4: If you are using polymer clay, follow the instructions on the package on how to bake your clay piece for it to harden.
Step 7: Use a polymer clay glaze for polymer clay.

Get a tutorial for a simple DIY chair cushion with ties – yes, it’s so easy, anyone can do it with basic sewing skills! Pick your favorite fabric for a custom addition to your decor.

Skills Required: Beginner. There are several steps to this project, but the sewing is simple. Even if you’re a beginning sewist, you should be able to accomplish this with some patience.

diy chair cushions

Hi everyone! This is Ashlee from My So Called Crafty Life, and I’m here to show you all how to make a simple DIY chair cushion! My Mama Marcie has a knack for antiques.

Her house is filled with them, and she always finds the most beautiful furniture pieces. One of my favorite piece she has in her kitchen is a gorgeous green iron chair with a floral fabric covered DIY chair cushion.

The chair is precious, but the seat is flat as a pancake and very uncomfortable.

sew a chair cushion

A really easy solution for an uncomfy chair, without reupholstering it and adding lots of padding, is to make something comfy that ties onto the chair.

So, I decided to whip one up for Marcie’s kitchen chair, and now it makes a great resting spot without hurting your tush!

I think this turned out to be just adorable! I have a thing for vintage westerns, and these cowgirls make me swoon! The fabric is an old print from Alexander Henry that I picked up at antique fair.

The best part is that this home decor is easy to make, requiring no pattern, and you can easily whip one up in an hour or two. Here’s how I made this . . .

Equipment

Ingredients

  • Fabric for Cushion about a half yard will do for most small to medium size chairs
  • Fabric Scraps or Ribbon/Trim for Ties
  • Fabric Scraps for Buttons
  • Fiber Fill

Instructions

  • Measure the chair seat. Add two inches to both the length and width – one inch (for a half-inch seam allowance on each side) plus one inch for the puff factor.
Piece of fabric laying on a table with a pair of scissors
  • Once you decide on the size, cut two pieces, one front and one back. Stack the pieces together and fold in half. Cut the bottom edge to be rounded.
Rounding the bottom edge of a piece of fabric with a pair of scissors
  • Cut two ties to be 20"x 2".
Two strips of polka dot fabric on top of the cushion fabric
  • If you are using ribbon or trim, skip this step. To make the ties, start by folding your tie in half lengthwise right sides together and press. Stitch all the way along the side and across the top.
Folding polka dot fabric in half lengthwise
  • Turn the tie right side out. Fold a little of the open in to the inside and stitch across the end, closing up the open end.
Pushing a dowel rod into a fabric tube
  • Cut tie in half. Repeat with other tie.
Cutting a tie in half with a pair of scissors
  • Pin your ties in between the front and back piece. The front and back should be right sides together. Pin the ties about an inch and a half in from the sides.
Make sure the ties are facing in towards the center of the cushion and the raw edges are lined up at the back. You need two ties on the right side and two at the left on what will be your back seam. Pin it all together.
Fabric ties pinned to the front and back of the cushion fabric
  • Stitch across the back then pivot and stitch down the side, across the bottom, up the other side and then across the back until right past the left set of ties. You should have an opening left in the back between the ties for stuffing.

Notes

Step 1: My seat was 15 x 17″, so I wanted my fabric to be 17 x 19″.
Step 15: Instructions for my kit were to place the fabric right side down into the rubber cup. insert the top of the button face down into the cup. Gather the fabric into the back side of the button front.
Place the button back shank side up onto the gathered fabric in the back side of the button front. Press the back of the button into the cup with the little plastic piece that the kit includes. You should feel it snap together. Remove button from the cup. Repeat with your other buttons. I made four.

I can’t wait to hear if you give this a try! Let me know in the comments. And if you enjoy sewing, here are some additional ideas we think you’re going to love:
